I love to chop onions, garlic, and herbs to a very find dice for certain dishes like when I’m cooking onions for a pasta sauce. When I’m using garlic, I almost always want the dice to be fine and small. And often when I use fresh herbs like when I make a pico de gallo or chimichurri, I am looking for the herbs to be very tiny. Sometimes I use scissors, but in the case of a chimichurri, I want it even smaller than what I can do with scissors, so I have enlisted the aid of the Cuisinart Chopper.
I bought this one to replace a different brand’s chopper as it broke after about 5 years of use, but what do you expect for a cheap chopping tool? They are bound to not hold up forever. Chopping wise. this Cuisinart Chopper does the job. I’ve chopped nuts, herbs, garlic, and onions with ease. Depending upon how fine I want the ingredient, I may go 20, 40 or even 100 presses on the chopper itself to grind it up so that I can have a nice fine paste for adding to the meal I’m preparing.
The one downside to this model is that the chopper blade does not separate from the model for easy cleaning. You need to wash it as is, but they do claim it is dishwasher safe. The other downside of using the chopper is the amount of chopped ingredients stick to the blade, the inner plastic holder and the see through cone. The cone is removable so that you can add those bits into the dish you need it for, but the inner plastic holder and blade are much harder to clean off.
But if you are in the market for a device that will finely chop your vegetables, nuts, and herbs for use in any dish, then you can’t go wrong with the Cuisinart Chopper.
