Maybe you’ve heard the joke, maybe you haven’t. I particularly like the joke, but Happy Healthy Son had no idea there was such a joke until he ordered this hot dog for me. Even then, he didn’t find out about the joke until I told him.
I was helping Happy Healthy Daughter enjoy and record her favorite Cafe in the Smoky Mountains and then Happy Healthy Son came in with this monstrosity. You see, he wanted a hot dog from the Smoky Mountain Dogs food truck parked nearby and had texted me to find out what I wanted on my hot dog. Well, I didn’t reply as I was busy with Happy Healthy Daughter and so he decided to order one with everything.
You see, the Smoky Mountain Dog gives it’s toppings for free which could include any combination of chili, sauerkraut, cheese, mustard, relish, coleslaw and ketchup. Since I didn’t reply in a timely manner, he decided to get for me a hot dog with all the toppings, making that age old joke come to life. The joke being, a Buddhist monk walked up to a hot dog vender and said, “make me one with everything.” And I got to live it!
But first, let’s discuss the abomination that my son ordered. He decided on his dog to get chili (excellent), cheese (a great combination there) and ketchup (I don’t know what he was thinking either). I’m not a big fan of having ketchup on a hot dog, especially if nothing else is on the dog, but at least he made up for it with chili and cheese. Now if he had added mustard to that dog, we’re talking close to perfection. At any rate, I gave his hot dog a try and aside from the ketchup distractor, the chili was quite flavorful and a nice addition to the great tasting Nathan’s dog and the cheese was a welcome addition. Very flavorful dog. If you’re looking for a good chili dog, then you won’t be disappointed with getting one at Smoky Mountain Dogs.
But what about the “one with everything dog” I hear you cry. Well, I can tell you, it was actually wonderful. You can taste all of the flavors. I enjoyed the tanginess of the sauerkraut and mustard, the chili and cheese combination is just as good, and the coleslaw added a nice mayonnaise flavoring. All the flavors combined actually worked well for this food taster. Now I’m not going to recommend that you run out and get one with everything from Smoky Mountain Dogs, but you could do worse. If you need a good hot dog, stop by Smoky Mountain Dogs. I’m certain you will enjoy whatever toppings you choose.
