We traveled to Phuket, a popular destination city for Thai tourism with their stunning beaches, tiger petting zoos, water sports and night life. We witnessed many things including a beautiful fruit market with many fruits that you don’t see in the US. We saw mangosteen, pomelos, baby pineapples, and of course, the supposedly foul smelling durian.
We stayed at the Andaman Embrace Patong where the accommodations were quite nice and had access to Patong Beach, but since we had a tour guide, we never walked down to the beach. We also had access to the breakfast buffet which every Thai hotel we stayed at offered a free breakfast buffet. The buffets all contained very similar foods.
Deli meats, cheese, choice of breads and sometimes pastries, cereal, bacon, sausages, rice, rice porridge, local Thai dishes like green curry chicken (a staple at every breakfast buffet we went to), fried rice, fried noodles, fried fish, steamed fish, seasonal fruits, yogurt, and often a choose your own omelet station. To drink you would find tea, coffee, water and a various supply of juice.
The buffet at the Andaman Embrace Patong was not much different from the other breakfast buffets we ate at. The food wasn’t necessarily memorable, but was very convenient and fulfilled it’s purpose which is to give a simple, easy to eat meal that doesn’t take much time so that you can get out into the city and vacation to your heart’s content.
If you plan to take a tour of Thailand, I recommend that you choose hotels with a breakfast buffet for the convenience.
