A long time ago, when I was in college and looking for a summer job, I found an ad for a salesperson saying they wanted college students. So being the one needed some money, I went in to see what the job entailed. Instead of having a discussion with the manager, he demonstrated the Cutco products by thinly slicing a tomato, cutting through soft bread and to finish it off, he used a pair of scissors to cut through a penny. I was highly impressed and decided to give selling Cutco knives a try. I had to buy my own set of knives and then cold called people to see if I could come into their home and demonstrate the set of expensive knives that would save you money in the long run because you will never need to buy knives again with their durable construction.
I only lasted selling the knives for about a month, but I sold a set to my mom which she still has and I still have that demonstration set along with a few more pieces I have bought along the way. The scissors are especially a good buy and were my most sold item. I still use them to cut open any package that is tough to open, especially those plastic ones as the scissors will cut through anything you can muscle through.
Now that gets me to this knife sharpener by Chef’s Choice. After using these knives for many years, they do become dull. Cutco does have a free sharpening service that you can use, or at least they did when I was selling the knives, but who wants to send the knives in once a year or so to get your knives back to the out of the box level of sharpness. So I decided to get this Chef’s Choice electric knife sharpener to return my blades to their former glory.
After using the knife sharpener, I love the convenience of having a spinning sharpening stone along with a guide to perfectly angle your knife to bring it to that perfect sharpness that these knives require. Now I wouldn’t try to use this sharpener on a set of cheap knives, I don’t know how well the knives would hold up, but having use this Chef’s Choice electric knife sharpener has brought my dull blades back to life and I am cutting through foods (and the occasional paper) better than ever.
